What bags you say?

THESE BAGS!!!

Thanks Mom!

Recently I have begun to realize how lucky I am to have a creative spirit. I think sometimes those of us that have it take the ease of creativity for granted. I have my mother to thank. My love for color and knack for all things creative stems from a long history of art classes, dinner parties, and beautiful things. As you can see by these beautiful paintings, my mom is a very talented artist.
Depending so heavily on the right side of your brain is no piece of cake, however. I am beginning to understand why Van Gogh cut his ear off. My bags might not be masterpieces worthy of a museum but I can tell you there is a little piece of me, and my mom, in every one.

Big and Bold is Hot!

Big and bold prints are what is hot. Color trends may vary, but prints like this one are in style. I thought this particular combination would be great for a unisex diaper bag. That is a design I always struggle with. How to create a great baby bag for a new mom that doesn't know what they will have. I have yet to ask for the ultrasound picture, but I have come close.

Preview of What's to Come

I have been sewing every night (almost), and it feels great! I made these two new bag designs last weekend and have lots more waiting in the wings. This is traditionally what happens when I try to clean my studio out, I get side tracked by all the patterns and colors. Instead of neatly folding a stacking the hundreds of different fabrics I have … I start to create combinations for new projects (before completing old ones).I know I am not the only one out there that does this! I also come to the unpleasant realization that there is fabric I am never going to do anything with. I have probably had it for a few years and am now focused on the beautiful new designs.
Speaking of new fabric…there is so much out there it is incredible. I find myself searching the internet day after day. Perusing the many websites I frequent but not buying anything. I suppose I feel guilty. Yes guilt by textiles! I know I need to dwindle down the stash before I add more, but we all know that is never going to happen. So why not just indulge and hope great creations come from it.
There is something inspiring about getting freshly cut yards of fabulous fabric delivered directly to your door by the smiling UPS man. With new fabric comes new ideas and I think that is just what the Lime Llama is asking for. So…long story short, I have a bunch of new fabric in my virtual shopping cart so stay tuned for what comes of it!

Dogs Need Pretty Things Too!

Sidney, my extremely well loved (some might say spoiled) dog, endured a long bath and a few shots on Friday…so I thought she deserved a prize. In addition to several biscuits at the vet, Sid got a new collar and a pretty scarf, because after all dogs need pretty things too!
We had a photo-shoot in the backyard so we could show off for all of you. She will pose forever in hopes of receiving the one biscuit literally being held over her head.

We had a bit of a distraction when Nikki, a neighborhood friend came by for a visit. I am sure Nikki was wondering where she could get one of those fabulous bandanas.
The photo-shoot resumed with a new pose.
What a good girl!
